SCURVY

Term used three times in the Bible (Lv 21:20 and 22:22, KJB; Dt 28:27, NLT). In none of the instances does it refer to the modern disease by the same name, which results from severe vitamin C deficiency. In the Leviticus passages, “scurvy” is found in the sequence “scurvy or scabbed.” This phrase is translated “oozing sores or scabs on his skin” in the NLT. See Disease; Medicine and Medical Practice.
