Israel's Unbelief
30 What then shall we say? That Gentiles who were not pursuing righteousness have obtained righteousness, that is, the righteousness that is by faith. 31 But Israel, although they pursued a law of righteousness, did not attain [fn]a law of righteousness. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works [fn]of the law. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling, 33 as it is written,
“Behold, I am placing in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,
yet [fn]no one who believes in him will be put to shame.”
10 Brothers, the desire of my heart and my prayer to God is that [fn]Israel may be saved. 2 I can testify that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they do not understand the righteousness of God, and by seeking to establish their own [fn]righteousness, they have not submitted to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
