This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.
129 A song for walking uphill to Yerushalem.
129 Let Yisra’el (Israel) say:
“My enemies have attacked me often since my youth.
2 Yes, often since my youth they’ve attacked me,
yet they haven’t defeated me.
3 Their ploughmen ploughed on my back—
they made their furrows long.
4 Yahweh is righteous.
He’s cut the ropes of the wicked.”[fn]
5 May all those who hate Tsiyyon (Zion)
be humiliated and turned back.
6 May they be like the grass that sprouts up on a roof
then dries up and dies before it can grow tall,
7 so it’s no use to the harvester
or to the person tying up the bundles of grain.
8 May no one who’s passing by say to those haters of Tsiyyon,
“May Yahweh’s blessing be on you all,”
or, “We bless you all in Yahweh’s name.”
129:4 Probably meaning ‘the ropes used to enslave us’, but not certain.
