Song 138/A prayer of thankfulness

Psa 138:1–8

138A song by David.

138I will thank you, Yahweh, with my whole being.

I’ll sing praises to you in front of the idols.

2I will bow down toward your sacred temple,

and I’ll thank you for your loyal commitment and for your trustworthiness,

because you’ve made your reputation and your message more important than anything else.

3When I called out for help, you answered me.

You gave me strength and made me bold.

4All the kings of the earth will thank you, Yahweh,

because they will hear what you’re saying.

5Yes, they’ll sing about Yahweh’s ways,

because Yahweh’s honour is outstanding,

6because although Yahweh is up high, yet he can still see the lowly,

and he knows the proud from far off.

7Even when I’m walking with danger all around me,

you will preserve my life.

You actively oppose the anger of my enemies,

and you save me with your intervention.

8Yahweh will avenge them for me.

Your loyal affection continues forever.

You don’t abandon the work that you started.
