5:1 Faith and love overcome the world
5 Everyone who believes that Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) is the messiah has been reborn in God, and everyone who loves the father who gave birth to us, also loves the son that he gave birth to. 2 We can know when we love God’s children: whenever we love God and obey his commands, 3 because the definition of loving God is obeying his commands[ref] and his commands are not a big strain on us 4 because everyone who’s been reborn in God is overcoming the world. 5 So who can overcome the world? Only the person who believes that Yeshua is God’s son.
