The Letter to the Church in Sardis

3 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘These are the words of him who has the [fn]seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know yoʋr works; yoʋ have [fn]made a name for yoʋrself and yoʋ are alive, but actually yoʋ are dead. 2 Be watchful and [fn]strengthen what remains, which [fn]yoʋ were about to throw away, for I have not found yoʋr works to be complete in the sight of [fn]my God. 3 So remember what yoʋ have [fn]received, and repent. If yoʋ do not wake up, I will come [fn]upon yoʋ like a thief, and yoʋ will certainly not know at what hour I will come upon yoʋ. 4 [fn]But yoʋ have a few individuals [fn]in Sardis who have not defiled their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be [fn]clothed in white garments. I will certainly not blot out his name from the book of life, but will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. 6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’
