Psalm 43

43 Please protect me, God, from the people who are being so cruel to me.

Please consider that I do not deserve that.

Rescue me from people who would deceive me and treat me unfairly. 2 I ask you to do this because you are the God who protects me,

and yet I feel as if you have abandoned me!

I am living sorrowfully because my enemies are afflicting me. 3 Treat me favorably, as if you were smiling at me.

Help me, as you have promised to do for those who are loyal to you.

Guide me so that I can return

to your temple on Mount Zion.

4 When I do come to Zion, I will go to your altar to worship you.

O God, you make me very joyful! At your altar, I will sing praise to you,

the God whom I worship, as I play the harp.

5 So I certainly should not be so sad and upset!

I can confidently expect God to rescue me!

When he does, I will have the opportunity

to praise him as my savior and my God.
