Psalm 62

62 This is a note for the worship leader: in the style of wrote psalm.

1 God is the one who saves me from my enemies,

and I am waiting quietly for him to do that.

2 He is the only one who can save me.

He protects me as if he were a rock I could climb onto in order to be safe.

No one would harm me at all.

3 My enemies are threatening me,

but they will not be able to keep doing that.

God will destroy all of them, just as a leaning wall falls down

and just as people can push a fence onto the ground.

4 My enemies are plotting together to do one thing.

They want to remove me from my important position.

They enjoy telling lies.

They say things to bless people,

but in their inner beings, they are cursing those people. Selah

5 Because I am expecting God to help me,

I will wait quietly for him alone to do that.

6 He is the only one who can save me.

He protects me as if he were a rock I could climb onto in order to be safe.

No one would harm me.

7 God is the one who saves me and honors me.

God is like a huge rock to which I can go to be safe.

He makes me strong.

8 You Israelite people should always trust in God.

Pray earnestly to him in his presence.

He is the one who keeps us safe. Selah

9 Certainly, ordinary people lack the power to help,

and important people are not as powerful as they seem.

If you put them all on a scale,

it would be as if they weighed less than air.

10 It is foolish to expect to get rich by cheating other people or by stealing from them.

If you become wealthy, do not rely on your money.

11 God has said very reliably

that he is the one who truly has power.

12 God is also the one who always keeps his promises.

He punishes people who do wrong things but rewards people who do good things.
