Literal Version

6:1 Seven administrators appointed

6However around that time when the number of Yeshua-followers were growing, some of the Greek converts starting grumbling about the Jewish believers because the Greek widows were being overlooked in the daily sharing of food and money. 2So the twelve missionaries assembled the believers together and told them, “We’re not pleased about having to take time off sharing the message of God to be serving here at the distribution tables. 3So brothers, look around you for seven men who’re well known to be full of God’s spirit and wisdom, so we can appoint them to be in charge of this part of the work. 4Then we ourselves can continue to pray and share the message.”

5This idea pleased the group, so they went ahead and chose Stephen (a man full of faith and of the holy spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas (a non-Jew from Antioch who had previously converted to Judaism). 6They stood these seven up in front of the missionaries, who prayed and then placed their hands on them.

7God’s message continued spreading and the number of followers in Yerusalem was rapidly increasing, and a large number of the priests became believers.

4But we will_be_persevering the in_prayer and the service of_the message.
5And the statement brought_pleasure before all the multitude, and they_chose Stefanos, a_man full of_faith and of_the_ holy _spirit, and Filippos, and Proⱪoros, and Nikanōr, and Timōn, and Parmenas, and Nikolaos a_ from_Antioⱪeia _convert, 6whom they_stood before the ambassadors, and having_prayed, they_laid_on their hands on_them.

6:8 Stephen gets arrested after teaching and doing miracles

8Now Stephen (one of the seven) was full of grace and power and was doing miracles and amazing demonstrations of God’s power among the people. 9But a group from the Freedmen Synagogue as well as Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and Asia Minor rose up and started arguing against Stephen, 10but they weren’t able to refute the wisdom that he spoke with the help of the pure spirit. 11So they got some men to falsely accuse Stephen saying, “We heard him denigrating Moses and God.” 12So they stirred up the people and the elders and the law teachers and so they approached Stephen and arrested him and brought him to the council chambers. 13There they produced the false witnesses saying, “This man won’t stop spreading messages against this holy temple and against the law 14because we heard him saying that that Yeshua from Nazareth will be tearing down this building and will be changing the traditions that Moses gave to us.” 15So then the council members looked across at Stephen and saw that his face was shining like that of one of God’s messengers.

8And Stefanos full of_grace and power, was_doing wonders and great signs among the people.
9But some of_the of the synagogue, which being_called Freedmen, and of_ones_from_Kuraʸnaʸ, and of_Alexandrians, and of_the ones from Kilikia, and Asia rose_up, debating with_the Stefanos.
10And they_were_were_ not _able to_resist against_the wisdom and the spirit, by_whom he_was_speaking.
11Then they_instigated men saying, that We_have_heard him speaking slanderous messages against Mōsaʸs/(Mosheh) and the god.
12And they_stirred_up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and having_approached, they_seized him and brought  him to the council, 13and they_set false witnesses saying:
- this man is_ not _ceasing speaking messages against this the the holy place and the law, 14for/because we_have_heard him saying that this Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) the from_Nazaret will_be_tearing_down the this place, and will_be_changing the customs that Mōsaʸs gave_over to_us.
15And having_looked_intently at him, all the ones sitting in the council saw the face of_him, as_if the_face of_an_messenger.
