Timaeus’s son, a blind beggar who called out to Jesus as he left Jericho on his final journey to Jerusalem (Mk 10:46-52). Seeing Bartimaeus’s faith, Jesus healed his blindness.

Show passage in OET: MRK 10:46–52

OET-RV MRK 10:46

46 They arrived at Yeriho (Jericho), and then when Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) and his apprentices were leaving again with a large crowd following, they came across blind Bar-Timaios (Grk. Bartimaios) (Timaios’ son) sitting beside the path begging.

OET-RV MRK 10:47

47 When he heard that it was Yeshua from Nazaret going past, he yelled out, “Yeshua, promised descendant of David, help me please.”

OET-RV MRK 10:48

48 When several people told him to stop, he just yelled out even louder, “Yeshua, promised descendant of David, please help me.”

OET-RV MRK 10:49

49 Then Yeshua stopped and got the people to call the blind man. So they called him, “Hey, be confident! Get up and come because he’s called for you.”

OET-RV MRK 10:50

50 So Bar-Timaios threw off his jacket, jumped up, and was led to Yeshua.

OET-RV MRK 10:51

51 “Now, what do you want me to do for you?” Yeshua asked.
¶ “My teacher, I’d like to be able to see,” Bar-Timaios replied.

OET-RV MRK 10:52

52 “Okay, off you go then,” Yeshua responded. “Your faith has saved you.”
¶ Immediately Bar-Timaios was able to see, and followed along the path after Yeshua.
