7:24 The importance of foundations

(Luke 6:47-49)

24Therefore anyone who hears these messages of mine and puts them into practice, they can be likened to a sensible person who built their house on the rock. 25When the rains started and the floods came and the winds blew and battered that house, it was stable because it had been founded on the rock.

26But anyone who hears these messages of mine and doesn’t put them into practice, they can be likened to a stupid person who built their house on the sand. 27When the rains started and the floods came and the winds blew and battered that house, it collapsed with a loud crash.

47Everyone who comes to me and listens to my messages and puts them into practice, I’ll show you who that person is like: 48That person is like a man building a house. He dug and drilled and laid a foundation on the rock, and then when there was a flood that dashed against that house, it didn’t shake it because it was built well. 49But the person who listens and doesn’t put the message into practice is like a man that just built his house on the ground with no foundation, and when the flood dashed against it, the house immediately collapsed and bust into many pieces.
