Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

6.47 Everyone who venit, etc. Postquam about aperte malis, about vere and simulatis bonis diu disputavit, bonos auditores verbi sibi ipsis, malos diabolo assimilat. Because like Christus variis of_men personis unam Ecclesiam construit, erudit, gubernat, in life eternal perducturus; so bonus auditor variis virtutibus supernam sibi mansionem ædificat in futuro when/with Christo about delet_him_sayione lætaturus. And like diabolus obedientes sibi about cœlis to terrena and to sins trahit, where not/no it_is fundamentum, because evil it_is without substantia, and always in deteriora præcipitat: so malus auditor, if/or let_it_be initiatus mysteriis of_Christ, if/or from toto alienus, as_if in a_well without fundo præcipitatus, not/no invenit where se retineat, but when/with venerit in profundum malorum, contemnit.

6:17-49 The central theme of Jesus’ great sermon is that an authentic life of righteousness accompanies repentance and acceptance into God’s Kingdom.
everyone who coming to me and hearing ˱of˲_me ˱of˲_the words and doing them ˱I˲_/will_be/_showing ˱to˲_you_all ˱to˲_whom ˱he˲_is similar
If it would be helpful in your language, you could move the last phrase to the beginning of the verse. Alternate translation: [I will tell you what every person is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice]
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
˱of˲_me ˱of˲_the words
Jesus uses the term words to refer to the teachings he is giving by using words. Alternate translation: [my teachings]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
˱I˲_/will_be/_showing ˱to˲_you_all ˱to˲_whom ˱he˲_is similar
Jesus says this to introduce the simile in the next verse.
