20:0 A prayer for victory
20 For the musical director: a song by David.
20 May Yahweh help you whenever trouble comes.
≈Then may Yakob’s (Jacob’s) God protect you
2 and send help from his sanctuary,
≈to support you from Tsiyyon (Zion).
3 May he call to mind all your offerings
and accept your burnt sacrifice. (Instrumental break.)
4 May he give you your desires that you’ve thought about the most,
≈and make all the plans that you’ve hoped for come to pass.
5 Then we will celebrate your victory,
≈and we’ll raise banners in the name of our God.
May Yahweh grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that Yahweh will rescue his anointed one.
He will answer him from his sacred heaven
and use all his strength to save him.
7 Various leaders trust in various different military units,
but we will put our trust in our God Yahweh.
8 They will stumble and fall,
but we will be strong and stand firm.
Answer us when we call for help.
