Songs 20/A prayer for victory

Psa 20:1–9

20 For the musical director: a song by David.

20May Yahweh help you whenever trouble comes.

Then may Yakob’s (Jacob’s) God protect you

2and send help from his sanctuary,

to support you from Tsiyyon (Zion).

3May he call to mind all your offerings

and accept your burnt sacrifice. (Instrumental break.)

4May he give you your desires that you’ve thought about the most,

and make all the plans that you’ve hoped for come to pass.

5Then we will celebrate your victory,

and we’ll raise banners in the name of our God.

May Yahweh grant all your requests.

6Now I know that Yahweh will rescue his anointed one.

He will answer him from his sacred heaven

and use all his strength to save him.

7Various leaders trust in various different military units,

but we will put our trust in our God Yahweh.

8They will stumble and fall,

but we will be strong and stand firm.

9Yahweh, rescue the king.

Answer us when we call for help.
