Songs 28/Prayer of requesting

Psa 28:1–9

28A song by David.

28Yahweh, I call out to you for help, my rock of safety.

Don’t refuse to hear me

because if you’re silent, I’ll soon be with those who’re heading down to their graves.

2Hear my pleading when I call for help from you—

when I raise my hands toward your most sacred room.

3Don’t drag me away along with the wicked—those who do evil things,

who talk about peace with their neighbours but have evil plans in their minds.

4Give them what their actions deserve

and repay them what their wickedness demands.

Repay them what they’ve done

and give them what they deserve.

5Because they don’t understand what Yahweh does,

he’ll tear them down and never rebuild them.

6Blessed be Yahweh

because he’s heard my requests.

7Yahweh makes me strong and protects me like a shield.

I trust in him, and he helps me.

That’s why I’m so happy inside,

and I’ll praise him by singing.

8Yahweh gives strength to his people,

and he is the place of safety for his anointed one.

9Rescue your people

and bless your inheritance.

Be their shepherd and carry them always.
