AICNT 2COR Chapter 9

2COR 9 ©

9Now concerning the ministry to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you; 2for I know your eagerness, which I boast about on your behalf to the Macedonians, that Achaia has been prepared since last year, and your zeal [[from among you]][fn] has stirred up most of them.

3So I sent the brothers, in order that our boasting about you might not be made empty in this respect, so that, just as I was saying, you would be prepared, 4[lest][fn] perhaps, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you) would be put to shame in this confidence [[of boasting]].[fn] 5Therefore, I considered it necessary to urge the brothers to go ahead to you and arrange in advance the generous gift you have {promised beforehand},[fn] so that it may be ready as a generous gift and not as an act of greed.

6The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each one must give as he {has decided}[fn] in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all sufficiency, you may abound in every good work, 9as it is written, “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his righteousness endures forever.”[fn]

10Now {the one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will}[fn] supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness; 11being enriched in everything for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us; 12For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.

13Through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for your submission to the confession of the gospel of Christ and for the simplicity of your fellowship with them and with all. 14And in their prayers for you, they long for you because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15[[But]][fn] Thanks to God for his indescribable gift.
