Songs 149/A song of praise

Psa 149:1–9

149:0 A song of praise

149Praise Yahweh.

Sing a new song to Yahweh.

Praise him in the assembly of the faithful ones.

2Let Israel’s people be glad about the one who made them.

Let Tsiyyon’s/Zion’s children be glad about their king.

3Let them praise him with dancing

making music with tambourines and harps,

4because Yahweh appreciates his people,

and he honours humble people by saving them.

5That honour will make the faithful people cheerful,

and they’ll happily sing during the night.

6They should use their mouths to praise God,

but hold sharp swords in their hands

7to inflict vengeance on the nations

and punishment on the people groups,

8to tie their kings up with chains

and to put their nobles into iron shackles.

9They’ll carry out the written judgements against them.

That’ll be an honour for all his faithful ones.

Praise Yahweh.
