This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.
149:0 A song of praise
149 Praise Yahweh.
Sing a new song to Yahweh.
Praise him in the assembly of the faithful ones.
2 Let Yisrael’s people be glad about the one who made them.
≈Let Tsiyyon’s/Zion’s children be glad about their king.
3 Let them praise him with dancing—
making music with tambourines and harps,
4 because Yahweh appreciates his people,
and he honours humble people by saving them.
5 That honour will make the faithful people cheerful,
and they’ll happily sing during the night.
6 They should use their mouths to praise God,
but hold sharp swords in their hands
7 to inflict vengeance on the nations
≈and punishment on the people groups,
8 to tie their kings up with chains
≈and to put their nobles into iron shackles.
9 They’ll carry out the written judgements against them.
That’ll be an honour for all his faithful ones.
Praise Yahweh.
