Songs 26/A prayer of a godly person

Psa 26:1–12

26A song by David.

26Declare me innocent, Yahweh, because I have walked with integrity.

I’ve trusted in Yahweh without wavering.

2Examine me, Yahweh, and test me.

Check out my mind and my motives.

3I keep my eyes on your loyal commitment,

and I walk about in your faithfulness.

4I don’t associate with deceitful people,

or with those who’re dishonest.

5I avoid the gatherings of evildoers,

and I don’t meet with the wicked.

6I wash my hands in innocence,

and I go around your altar, Yahweh,

7to sing a praise song

and to tell about all the wonderful things you’ve done.

8Yahweh, I love the house where you live,

the place where your power and splendour is continually displayed.

9Don’t remove me along with sinners,

or my life with people blood on their hands

10people who’re plotting wickedness,

and whose pockets are full of bribes.

11But as for me, I’ll walk with integrity.

Release me from my slavery and have mercy on me.

12My feet stand on level ground.

I will bless Yahweh at our gatherings.
