TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 27 This psalm mixes two genres—a psalm of confidence (27:1-6) and an individual lament (27:7-14)—held together by the theme of longing for the Lord’s presence. The psalmist focuses on the Lord; his circumstances are secondary. The strength of the psalmist’s faith is expressed in his openness to the Lord’s instruction, timing, and priorities.

Even if my father and my mother forsake me

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when father,my and,mother,my forsake,me and=YHWH receive,me )

“Even if my father and my mother were to forsake me.” He is not saying that they actually have done this or that they would do it. His point is that even if they did that, God would not abandon him.

Yahweh will take me in

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when father,my and,mother,my forsake,me and=YHWH receive,me )

Alternate translation: “Yahweh will keep me” or “Yahweh will take care of me”
