Therefore, I urge first of all that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity.
[[For]][fn] This is good and acceptable in the sight of our Savior God, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle - I am telling the truth [[in Christ]],[fn] I am not lying - a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Therefore, I desire that men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger and argument.
Likewise, [also][fn] women should adorn themselves in modest attire, with respect and self-control, not with braids {and}[fn] gold or pearls or expensive clothing, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness, through good works.
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
But I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, fell into transgression.
But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
