How good it is to sing praises to our God,
≈How pleasant and suitable is a praise song.
2 Yahweh builds up Yerushalem (Jerusalem),
He gathers the Israelis who were taken to other countries.
3 He heals those who’re broken-hearted
he calls all of them by name.
5 Our master is wonderful and very powerful.
His understanding is unlimited.
6 Yahweh helps the oppressed up.
He brings down the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving.
≈Make music for our God with a harp.
8 He’s the one who covers the skies with clouds.
≈He’s the one who prepares rain for the earth.
He’s the one who makes the mountains sprout with grass.
9 He gives food to the animals
≈and to the ravens’ chicks when they squawk.
10 He doesn’t delight in the strength of a horse,
≈He doesn’t enjoy a man’s legs.
11 Yahweh enjoys those who fear him—
those who know to expect his loyal commitment.
12 Tell about Yahweh’s greatness, Yerushalem.
13 because he strengthens the locking bars on your gates.
He blesses your children there in the city.
14 He give peace on your borders.
He satisfies you with excellent grain.
15 He sends out his command to the soil,
16 He makes the snow coat the ground like wool on a sheep.
≈He scatters the frost across the countryside like people scatter ashes.
17 He sends out his hail like crumbs brushed off a table.
Who can stand before his cold?
18 He sends out his command and melts them.
≈He makes his wind blow, and the waters flow.
19 He declared his message to Yakob (Jacob)—
≈his instructions and his regulations for Yisrael.
20 He hasn’t done that for any other country,
≈and as for his instructions, they don’t know them.
Praise Yahweh.
