Peter 5

[Therefore][fn] I exhort the elders among you, as fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of {Christ},[fn] and a partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: 2Shepherd the flock of God among you, [overseeing][fn] not by compulsion but willingly [according to God];[fn] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3[not as domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.][fn] 4And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

Likewise, younger men, submit yourselves to the elders.

And all of you, [[submit]][fn] to one another, clothe yourselves with humility; for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.[fn]

Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in a time [[of visitation]],[fn] 7casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for {you}.[fn]

Be sober-minded, be watchful. [[Because]][fn] Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking {someone}[fn] to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

The God of all grace, who has called {you}[fn] to his eternal glory in Christ [Jesus],[fn] having suffered a little, he himself will restore [you],[fn] will strengthen, [will make strong,][fn] [will establish].[fn]

To him be [[the glory and]][fn] the dominion forever [and ever].[fn] Amen.

Through Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

The co-elect [[church]][fn] in Babylon greets you, and Mark my son.

Greet one another with {a kiss of love}.[fn]

[Peace to all of you who are in Christ][fn] [[Jesus. Amen]].[fn]
