Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant

Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant

7When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2There a centurion's servant, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and about to die. 3The centurion heard about Jesus and sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4When they came to Jesus, they earnestly pleaded with him, saying, “This man is worthy to have yoʋ do this for him, 5for he loves our nation and built our synagogue for us.” 6So Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yoʋrself, for I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof; 7therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to yoʋ. But just say the word, and [fn]my servant will be healed. 8For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at the centurion. And turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.” 10Then the men the centurion had sent returned to the house and found that the servant [fn]who had been sick was well.
