Neh 12:44–47

44Then still on that same day, men were appointed to be in charge of the storerooms for the tithes and offerings. The percentages for the priests and the Levites were gathered from the fields around the cities as per the written law, because the people of Yehudah were happy to have the priests and the Levites serving. 45They served God with their daily duties and the purification ceremonies, as well as the duties of the singers and gatekeepersall done according to the instructions left by King David and his son Shelomoh,[ref] 46because it was handed down from the original singers who sang songs of praise and thanksgiving to God in the time of David and Asaf. 47In Zerubavel and Nehemyah’s times, all Yisrael contributed the daily food allowance for the singers and gatekeepers. They also gave a percentage to the Levites who then gave a percentage of that to the priests (Aharon’s descendants).

1Ch 25:1-8:

25Then David and the army chiefs allocated the musical service to the sons of Asaf, Heyman, and Yedutun—the ones prophesying with harps, with lyres, and with cymbals. This is a list of the men whom they chose for that work:

6All of those served as musicians in Yahweh’s temple under their fathers’ supervision—they played cymbals, harps, and lyres. Their fathers were supervised by the king. 7There were 288 of those men and their musical relatives who played to Yahweh. 8They used lots to determine their duties, whether young or old, and irrespective of their musical abilities.

1Ch 26:12:

12Those men were leaders of the groups of men who guarded the gates of the temple. They worked in Yahweh’s temple like their relatives did.
