ULT JER Chapter 24

JER 24 ©

24Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs were set to the face of the temple of Yahweh, after Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, exiled Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the officials of Judah, and the craftsmen and the smiths from Jerusalem, and brought them to Babylon. 2One basket had very good figs, like the first ripe figs, and one basket had very bad figs that could not be eaten from badness. 3And said Yahweh to me, “What are you seeing, Jeremiah?” And I said, “Figs. The good figs are very good, and the bad ones are very bad, that they cannot be eaten from badness.”

4And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 5“Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard the exile of Judah whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans, for good. 6And I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. And I will build them up and not tear them down, and I will plant them and not uproot them. 7And I will give to them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh. And they will be to me for a people, and I, I will be to them for God, for they will return to me with all of their heart.

8And like the bad figs that cannot be eaten from badness—for thus says Yahweh—so I will give Zedekiah, king of Judah, and his officials, and the remnant of Jerusalem, the ones remaining in this land, and the ones dwelling in the land of Egypt. 9And I will give them to horror, for evil, to all of the kingdoms of the earth, for a reproach and for a proverb, for a taunt and for a curse, in all of the places where I will drive them. 10And I will send among them the sword, the famine, and the plague, until they are consumed from upon the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.”
