ULT JER Chapter 12

JER 12 ©

12You are righteous, Yahweh, when I argue to you.

I will surely speak with you of my cases: Why is the way of the wicked successful? All of the treacherous ones of the treacherous are at ease.

2You planted them, also they took root. They grew, also they produced fruit.

You are near to them in their mouths, and far away from their kidneys.

Lure them away like sheep for slaughtering, and set them apart for the day of slaughter!

4Until when will the land dry up and the plants in every field wither from the wickedness of those dwelling in it?

The animals and the birds have been taken away, for they say, “He will not see our end.”

5For you have run with foot soldiers and they have worn you out, how will you compete with horses?

You are trusting in a land of peace, how will you do in the majesty of the Jordan?

6For even your brothers and your father’s house, even they have betrayed you, even they have called after you fully.

Do not trust in them, for they speak good things to you.

7I have abandoned my house, I have left my inheritance.

I have given the beloved of my life into the hand of her enemies.

8My inheritance has become to me like a lion in a forest,

she has set against me with her voice, because of this I hate her.

9Is my inheritance to me speckled birds of prey, birds of prey surrounding against her?

Go, gather all the animals of the field, bring them to eat.

10Many shepherds have ruined my vineyard. They have trampled my portion,

they appointed the portion of my delight for a wilderness, a desolation.

11He set her for a desolation, she mourns upon me, a desolation.

All the land has been made desolate, for there is not a man setting upon the heart.

12Destroyers have come against all the bare places in the wilderness,

for the sword of Yahweh is consuming from the end of the land until the end of the land.

There is not peace for any flesh.

13They have sown wheat and harvested thorn bushes. They have become worn out, they did not profit,

and they were ashamed from your produce, from the anger of the face of Yahweh.”

14Thus says Yahweh against all my wicked neighbors who strike at the possession that I made my people Israel possess, “Behold, I am pulling them up from upon their ground, and I will pluck up the house of Judah from their midst. 15And it will happen after my plucking them up, I will turn and have compassion on them and bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land. 16And it will happen, if learning, they learn the ways of my people, to swear upon my name ‘As Yahweh lives’ just as they have taught my people to swear upon Baal, they will be built in the midst of my people. 17And if they do not listen, and I will pluck up that nation, it will be plucked up and destroyed—the declaration of Yahweh.”
