ULT JER Chapter 11

JER 11 ©

11The word that was to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2“Hear the words of this covenant, and speak them to each one of Judah and upon the dwellers of Jerusalem 3and say to them, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘“Cursed is the man who does not hear the words of this covenant, 4that which I commanded your fathers on the day of my bringing them out from the land of Egypt, from the furnace of iron, saying, “‘“Listen upon my voice and do them, as everything that I command you, and you will be to me for a people and I will be to you for a God, 5for the sake of standing the oath that I swore to your fathers, giving to them the land flowing of milk and honey, as this day.’” Then I, Jeremiah, answered and said, “Truly, Yahweh!”

6And Yahweh said to me, “Proclaim all these things in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. Say, ‘Listen to the words of this covenant and carry them out. 7For warning, I warned upon your ancestors in the day I caused them to go up from the land of Egypt until this day, persisting and warning saying, “Listen upon my voice." 8And they did not listen and they did not stretch out their ear, and each one has walked in the stubbornness of their wicked heart, and I brought upon them all of the words of this covenant that I commanded to do, and they did not do.”

9And Yahweh said to me, “A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the dwellers of Jerusalem. 10They have returned upon the iniquities of their first fathers, who refused to listen to my words, and they walked after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah broke my covenant that I cut with their fathers. 11Therefore thus says Yahweh, ‘Behold, I am bringing calamity to them, that they will not be able to go out from it, and they will call out to me, and I will not listen to them. 12And the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and call out to the gods that they are offering to them, and saving they will not save them at the time of their calamity. 13For the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah, and the number of the streets of Jerusalem, you have appointed altars of shame, altars of sacrificing to Baal.

14And you, do not pray for this people. Do not lift up a cry and a prayer on their behalf, for there is not me listening in the time of their calling to me on account of their calamity.

15What is to my beloved one in my house, her doing much evil?

The flesh of the holy thing they pass over from upon you, for then you rejoice of your evil.

16Yahweh called your name a leafy, beautiful olive tree, fruit of good appearance.

Of the sound of a great roaring he kindled a fire upon her, and its branches were bad.

18Yahweh made me know, and I know. Then Yahweh made me see their deeds. 19I was like a gentle lamb being led for slaughtering, and I did not know that they had planned plans against me, ‘Let us destroy the tree with its fruit! And let us cut him off from the land of the living, and his name will not be remembered any longer.’

20And Yahweh of hosts is a righteous judges, examining the kidneys and the heart.

I will see your vengeance from them, for I have uncovered my dispute to you.

21Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth who are seeking your life saying, “You shall not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, and you will not die by our hand.” 22Therefore thus says Yahweh of armies, ‘Behold, I am visiting against them. The chosen young men will die by the sword. Their sons and their daughters will die by famine, 23and a remnant will not be to them, for I will bring calamity to the men of Anathoth, a year of their visitation.’”
