The Second Book of Kings 24

24In his days, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon went up, and Jehoiakim was a servant to him—three years. And he turned back, and he rebelled against him. 2And Yahweh sent against him troops of Chaldeans and troops of Aram and troops of Moab and troops of the sons of Ammon. And he sent them against Judah to destroy it according to the word of Yahweh that he spoke by the hand of his servants the prophets. 3However, it was according to the mouth of Yahweh against Judah, to remove them away from his face with the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, 4and also the innocent blood that he poured out, and he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh was not willing to forgive. 5But the rest of the words of Jehoiakim, and all that he did—are they not written on the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? 6And Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son became king in his place. 7And the king of Egypt did not continue again to go out from his land, because the king of Babylon took from the river of Egypt as far as the Euphrates River—everything that belonged to the king of Egypt.

8Jehoiachin was a son of 18 years when he became king, and he was king in Jerusalem three months. And the name of his mother was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan from Jerusalem. 9And he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, like all that his father did.

10At that time, the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon went up to Jerusalem, and the city entered into siege. 11And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came to the city, and his servants were besieging against it, 12and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he and his mother and his servants and his captains and his eunuchs. And the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his being king. 13And he brought out from there all the treasure of the house of Yahweh, and the treasure of the house of the king, and he cut off all the vessels of gold that Solomon the king of Israel made in the temple of Yahweh, just as Yahweh had spoken. 14And he exiled all Jerusalem and all the captains and all the mighty men of the army, exiling 10, 000 people and every crastman and smith. A person was not left except the poor of the people of the land. 15And he exiled Jehoiachin in Babylon. And the mother of the king and the wives of the king and his eunuchs and the citizens of the land he led into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, 16and all of the men of the army, 7, 000 people, and the craftsmen and the smiths, 1, 000 people, the whole—the mighty ones who made war. And the king of Babylon brought them into exile to Babylon. 17And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his uncle king in his place, and he turned his name to Zedekiah.

18Zedekiah was a son of 21 years when he became king, and he was king 11 years in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah. 19And he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, like everything that Jehoiakim did. 20For on account of the nose of Yahweh it happened in Jerusalem and in Judah, until he threw them away from his face. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
