Shelomoh’s honour and wealth

2 Chr 1:13–17

1 Ki 10:26–29

13Then Shelomoh left the sacred tent at Gibeon and returned to Yerushalem, where he reigned over Yisrael. 14Then Shelomoh built up his chariots and horsemen, and soon had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen which he stationed in the chariot cities and with him in Yerushalem.[ref] 15The king made silver and gold in Yerushalem as common as stones, and he made imported cedar timber as common as the local sycamore trees that were plentiful in the lowlands. 16Shelomoh’s horses were imported from Egypt (Heb. Mitsrayim) and from the traders in Kue (in modern southern Türkiye/Turkey).[ref] 17Egyptian chariots cost six hundred silver coins and horses cost one hundred and fifty. (The Hittites and Aramean kings were able to get them for the same price.)

26Shelomoh acquired 1,400 chariots and twelve thousand horsemen. He stationed most of them in his chariot cities and some with him there in Yerushalem.[ref] 27While he was king, silver in Yerushalem was given a value similar to stones, and cedar timber was given a value like that of the sycamores that grow in plenty in the lowlands.[ref] 28Shelomoh acquired horses from Egypt and from Kue—his traders would acquire them from Kue for the king for a price.[ref] 29An Egyptian chariot went for six hundred silver coins and a horse for one hundred and fifty. Then they’d export them again to the Hittite and Aramean kings.
