5 Now Yeshua’s (Jesus’; Grk. Yesus’) apprentices had crossed the lake, but they forgot to take any bread, 6 and Yeshua told them, “Watch out for the yeast from the Farisaios and the Saddoukaios (Sadducees).”[ref]

7 This caused a discussion among them, trying to figure out if he was scolding them for not bringing any bread.

8 But Yeshua knew what they were saying, and asked them, “You people with little faith, why are you talking to each other about not having bread? 9 Haven’t you understood what’s going on here yet? Don’t you remember that there were twelve baskets of leftovers when five buns were used to feed 5,000 families?[ref] 10 And then seven baskets of leftovers when seven buns were used to feed 4,000 families?[ref] 11 How can you fail to understand that I wasn’t talking to you about bread? Watch out for the yeast from the Farisaios and Saddoukaios.

12 Then they understood that he wasn’t talking about yeast that’s used to make bread, but about the teachings of the Farisaios’ party and of the Saddoukaios sect.
