Signs of the End of the Age

Signs of the End of the Age

3Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, across from the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, 4“Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign when all these things are about to be fulfilled?” 5Jesus began to say to them [fn]in response, “See that no one leads you astray. 6[fn]For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and will lead many astray. 7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be [fn]alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 8For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, along with famines [fn]and riots. These are the beginning of the labor pains.

9“You must watch out for [fn]yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in [fn]synagogues. For my sake you will even be [fn]set before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. 11When they lead you away and hand you over, do not be anxious beforehand about what you should [fn]say. Do not give it much thought, but say whatever is given to you in that hour, for it will not be you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. 12Brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death. 13You will be hated by all because of my name, but he who endures to the end will be saved.
