Yeshua asks about the messiah being David’s descendant

This is still an early look into the drafted text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

12:35 Yeshua asks about the messiah being David’s descendant

(Mat. 22:41-46; Luke 20:41-44)

35Later when Yeshua was teaching in the temple, he asked the people, “How is it that the teachers here say that the messiah is a descendant of King David? 36Because David himself said under the inspiration of the holy spirit,[ref]

‘The master told my master,

“Sit there in the position of honour

until I can conquer your enemies.” ’

37If David calls the messiah his master, how can the messiah possibly be David’s descendant?

The large crowd was very interested to hear everything that Yeshua had to say.
