149 Praise Yahweh!

Sing a new song to Yahweh!

Let his faithful people praise him when they gather together.

2 You Israelite people, God made you.

Be happy because of what he has done for you.

You people of Jerusalem, rejoice because God is your king.

3 Praise Yahweh by dancing.

Play tambourines and harps to honor him.

4 Do that because Yahweh loves his people;

he honors poor people by rescuing them.

5 God’s faithful people should celebrate because he has honored them.

Even on their beds at night, they should praise him with joyful songs.

6 They should also shout loudly to praise God

when they go into battle holding swords that have two sharp edges.

7 They should be ready to punish the people of other nations

for the sins they have committed against God.

8 They should bind their kings with chains

and put iron shackles on their leaders.

9 In that way, they will carry out the judgment that God has decreed against them.

God will give his faithful people the honor of doing that for him.

Praise Yahweh!
