UST PSA Chapter 147

147 Praise Yahweh!

Singing praises to our God is a good thing to do.

He deserves it, and it makes us happy.

2 Yahweh is rebuilding Jerusalem

and bringing back the Israelites whom our enemies had scattered.

3 He comforts people who are very sad

and heals their pain.

4 He knows how many stars there are,

and he has given each one its name.

5 Our Lord is great and very powerful;

no one can measure how much he understands.

6 Yahweh helps humble people,

but he makes wicked people fail in what they want to do.

7 Thank Yahweh, our God, for all he has done for us

as you play the harp and sing to him.

8 He makes the sky form rain clouds

so that they will rain on the earth

and make grass grow on the mountains.

9 He provides food for wild animals.

He even feeds young ravens when they cry out for food.

10 He does not value the strength of a horse

or the speed of a human runner.

11 Instead, Yahweh values people who deeply respect him.

He values people who confidently expect him

to be faithful to his covenant promises.

12 Praise Yahweh our God, you people of Jerusalem

who live on Mount Zion!

13 He has made the defenses of your city strong,

and he has blessed the people who live among you.

14 He keeps your borders safe,

and gives you plenty of wheat to eat.

15 He gives commands about what will happen on the earth,

and these things happen right away.

16 He makes snow that covers the ground like a white wool blanket,

and he scatters frost on the ground like ashes.

17 He hurls down hail like small stones.

When he makes it cold, no one can stand outside.

18 But then he gives a command, and the snow and ice melt.

He sends a warm wind, and the water flows again.

19 He told the descendants of Jacob how he wanted them to live.

Yes, he gave decrees and laws to the Israelites.

20 He has not done this for any other nation;

they do not know his laws.
