A psalm of David

You heavenly beings, praise Yahweh!

Declare that he is very glorious and powerful.

2 Proclaim that Yahweh is glorious.

Bow down and worship Yahweh in holy attire.

3 People hear Yahweh’s voice above the sea;

the glorious God thunders.

Yahweh’s voice thunders over the large sea.

4 Yahweh’s voice is powerful and majestic.

5 The sound of Yahweh’s voice breaks cedar trees,

the cedars that grow in Lebanon.

6 He causes the mountains in Lebanon to jump like calves jump,

and he causes Mount Hermon to jump as a young wild bull jumps.

7 Yahweh tells the lightning to flash upon the mountains and it hews out rocks.

8 The sound of Yahweh’s voice causes the wilderness to shake;

he shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The sound of Yahweh’s voice makes the deer give birth

and strips the leaves from the trees,

while the people in Yahweh’s sacred tent say, “Praise Yahweh!”

10 Yahweh rules as king over the waters that are above the sky;

Yahweh rules as king forever.

11 Yahweh will strengthen his people,

and he will bless them by giving them good things and causing them to be happy and peaceful.
