57 Have pity on me, O god, have pity,
for with thee I take shelter;
in the shadow of thy wings I shelter,
till the deadly danger passes.
2 I call to God Most High,
to God who acts on my behalf.
3 God send me help from heaven!
God send his love and loyalty,
discomfiting those who would trample me down!
4 I have to live amon lions,
who prey upon men;
their teeth are spears and arrows,
their tongue is a sharp sword.
6 They set a net to catch my feet,
and they were caught in it themselves;
they dug a pit in front of me,
and they fell into it!
5 Up, O God, high over heaven!
Up with thy glory over all the earth!
7 My heart is ready, ready, O God,
for song and melody.
8 Awake, my soul! awake my lute and lyre!
Let me awake the dawn!
9 I would praise thee, Lord, among the peoples,
I would chant thee among the nations;
10 for they love is high over heaven,
thy loyalty soars to the skies.
