Only use of identical word form ἀπολογούμεθα (V-IPM1··P) in the Greek originals

The word form ‘ἀπολογούμεθα’ (V-IPM1··P) is always and only glossed as ‘we are defending’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘apologeomai’ have 8 different glosses: ‘to_be defended’, ‘to_be defending’, ‘was defending’, ‘I am defending’, ‘we are defending’, ‘you_all may defend’, ‘defending’, ‘defending them’.
