19 And it _ became at the time , the Apollōs to _ be in Korinthos , Paulos having _ passed_ through the upper parts , to _ come_ down to Efesos and to _ find some apprentices/followers , 2 and said to them :
- having _ believed you _ all_ received the _ holy _ spirit ?
And they said to him :
But we _ not _ even _ heard whether there _ is holy spirit .
3 and , He _ said Therefore into what were _ you_ all_ immersed ?
And they said :
Into the immersion of _ Yōannaʸs .
4 And Paulos said :
Yōannaʸs immersed with _ a _ immersion of _ repentance , saying to _ the people that they _ may_ believe in the coming after him this is in the Yaʸsous/(Yə hōshūˊa) .
5 And having _ heard , they _ were_ immersed in the name of _ the master Yaʸsous .
6 And of _ the _ Paulos having _ laying_ on on _ them ^his _ hands , the the holy spirit came on them , and they _ were_ speaking with _ tongues and were _ prophesying .
7 And the all were men about twelve .
8 And having _ come_ in into the synagogue , he _ was_ speaking_ boldly for three months , discussing and persuading concerning the kingdom of _ the _ god .
9 But when some were _ being_ hardened and were _ disbelieving , speaking _ evil of the way before the multitude , having _ withdrew from them he _ set_ apart the apprentices/followers , in _ every day discussing in the school of _ Turannos .
10 And this became for two years , so _ that all the dwelling _ in the Asia to _ hear the message of _ the master , both Youdaiōns and Hellaʸns .
11 And the god was _ doing not which having _ been_ ordinary miracles , by the hands of _ Paulos , 12 so _ that even to the ailing handkerchiefs or aprons to _ be_ being_ carried_ away from the skin of _ him , and the diseases to _ be_ being_ released from them , and the the evil spirits to _ be_ going_ out .
13 But some also the Youdaiōns exorcists going _ around attempted to _ be_ naming over the having the the evil spirits in _ the name of _ the master Yaʸsous/(Yə hōshūˊa) saying :
I _ am_ imploring you _ all , the by _ Yaʸsous , whom Paulos is _ proclaiming .
14 and seven sons of _ one of _ Skeuas Youdaiōns chief _ priest Were doing this .
15 But the the evil spirit answering said to _ them :
- Yaʸsous I _ am_ knowing , and the Paulos I _ am_ recognizing , but who _ all are you _ all ?
16 And the man in whom was the the evil spirit having _ leapt_ on , on , them , having _ exercised_ mastership over _ both , it _ prevailed against against _ them , so _ that to _ escape out _ of the that house naked and having _ been_ wounded .
17 And this became known to _ all , both to _ Youdaiōns and Hellaʸns , the dwelling _ in the Efesos , and fear fell _ on on all them , and the name of _ the master Yaʸsous was _ being_ magnified .
18 And many of _ the having _ believed , were _ coming confessing and declaring the practices of _ them .
19 And many of _ the having _ practiced the magical , having _ brought_ together their scrolls , they _ were_ burning_ up them before all .
And they _ counted_ up the prices of _ them , and they _ found five ten _ thousand of _ silver .
20 Thus the message of _ the master was _ growing with power and was _ prevailing .
21 And when was _ fulfilled these , purposed the Paulos in the spirit , having _ passed_ through the Makedonia and Aⱪaia , to _ be_ going to Hierousalaʸm/(Yə rūshālayim) having _ said , that After the time to _ become me there , it _ is_ fitting me also Ɽōmaʸ to _ see .
22 And having _ sent_ out into the Makedonia , two of _ the serving unto _ him , Timotheos and Erastos , he held _ on a _ time in the Asia .
23 And concerning the that time , a _ not little _ disturbance became concerning the way .
24 For/Because a _ certain silversmith by _ the _ name Daʸmaʸtrios , making temples silver of _ Artemis , was _ bringing_ about no little business to _ the craftsmen , 25 whom having _ convened_ together also the workers about the such , he _ said :
Men , you _ all_ are_ knowing that the prosperity to _ us is from this the business .
26 And you _ all_ are_ observing and are _ hearing that not only Efesos , but almost of _ all the Asia , the this Paulos having _ persuaded , redirected much crowd , saying that the by ^our _ hands becoming they _ are not gods .
27 But this is _ not only _ risking_ danger to _ us , the trade to _ come into disrepute , but also the temple of _ the great goddess of _ Artemis , to _ be_ counted for nothing , but of _ the greatness of _ her to _ be_ going also to _ be_ being_ taken_ down , whom all the Asia and the inhabited _ world is _ worshipping .
28 And having _ heard , and having _ become full of _ rage , they _ were_ crying_ out saying :
Great is the Artemis of _ the _ _ from_ Efesos .
29 And the city was _ filled of _ the _ confusion , and they _ rushed with _ one_ accord to the theatre , having _ seized _ from_ Makedonia Gaios and Aristarⱪos , travelling _ companions of _ Paulos .
30 But Paulos wishing to _ come_ in to the public , the apprentices/followers were _ not _ allowing him .
31 And some also of _ the Asian _ rulers , being friends to _ him , having _ sent to him , they _ were_ imploring him not to _ give himself into the theatre .
32 Therefore indeed others a _ certain other were _ crying_ out , because/for the assembly was having _ been_ confounded , and the more had _ not _ known for _ what on _ account they _ had_ come_ together .
33 And out _ of the crowd they _ concluded Alexandros , of _ the Youdaiōns having _ put_ him _ forward .
And the Alexandros having _ gestured his hand , was _ wanting to _ be_ defending to _ the public .
34 But having _ recognized that he _ is a _ Youdaios , cry there _ became one from all , over about two hours crying _ out :
Great the Artemis of _ the _ _ from_ Efesos .
35 And the clerk having _ calmed the crowd is _ saying :
Men , _ from_ Efesos , because/for who is of _ the _ people , who is _ not _ knowing the city of _ the _ _ from_ Efesos being temple _ keeper of _ the great Artemis and of _ the fallen _ from_ Zeus image ?
36 Therefore these being unquestionable , it _ is fitting you _ all to _ be_ being having _ been_ calmed , and to _ be_ doing nothing reckless .
37 For/Because you _ all_ brought the these men , neither temple-robbers nor slandering the goddess of _ us .
38 If therefore on _ one_ hand Daʸmaʸtrios and the craftsmen with him are _ having a _ matter against anyone , courts are _ being_ brought and there _ are proconsuls , let _ them_ be_ indicting against _ one_ another .
39 On _ the_ other_ hand if you _ all_ are_ seeking_ after anything concerning others , it _ will_ be_ being_ settled in the lawful assembly .
40 For/Because we _ also _ are_ risking_ danger to _ be_ being_ indicted of _ insurrection concerning the day today , nothing being cause , concerning which we will _ not _ be_ able to _ give_ back a _ account concerning the this disorderly _ gathering .
And having _ said these , he _ sent_ away the assembly .
