2 And you, being dead in [your][fn] trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience; 3 Among whom we all also once conducted ourselves in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the thoughts, and we were by nature children of wrath, just as the rest.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, – by grace you have been saved – 6 and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through [[the]][fn] faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
11 Therefore, remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, were called “uncircumcision” by those called “circumcision,” which is made in the flesh by hands. 12 At that time you were without Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who has made both one and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, in his flesh, 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having put to death the hostility in him.
17 And coming, he proclaimed peace to you who are far away and peace to those who are near. 18 For through him we both[fn] have access in one spirit to the Father.
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but [you are][fn] fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with {Christ Jesus}[fn] himself as the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God in the Spirit.
