TSNTyndale Study Notes:

2:11-22 Paul now focuses on the grace that God has given particularly to Gentiles (non-Jews), bringing them into his family and uniting them with Jews in a new, unified, multiethnic community—the body of Christ, the church. Paul’s emphasis on the inclusion of Gentiles might suggest they were experiencing discrimination from Jewish Christians.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

ἐν ᾧ

in whom

You can translate this as “in Christ,” which is a metaphor that expresses the strongest kind of relationship possible between Christ and those who believe in him.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

καὶ ὑμεῖς συνοικοδομεῖσθε, εἰς κατοικητήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν Πνεύματι

also you_all /are_being/_built_together for /a/_dwelling_place ¬the ˱of˲_God in /the/_Spirit

This describes how believers are being put together to become a place where God will permanently live through the power of the Holy Spirit. Alternate translation: “you also are being joined to this group where God lives by his Spirit”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

καὶ ὑμεῖς συνοικοδομεῖσθε

also you_all /are_being/_built_together

If your language does not use this passive form, you can state this in active form. Alternate translation: “God is also building you together”
