36 These are the descendants of Esav (Esau) (who’s also known as Edom): 2 Esav had married two local women from the Kena’an (Canaan) region: Adah (the Hiti Eylon’s daughter) and Oholivamah (Anah’s daughter and granddaughter of the Hivi Tsivoen)[ref] 3 and Basemat (Yishmael’s (Ishmael) daughter and the sister of Nevayot).[ref]

4 Esav’s wife Adah gave birth to Elifaz, and Basemat gave birth to Re’uel. 5 Oholivamah gave birth to Ye’ush and Yaelam and Korah. Those were Esav’s sons who were born in the Kena’an region.

6 Then Esav took his wives and his sons and daughters and all his household, and his livestock and all his animals and all his possessions that he had acquired in the Kena’an region, and he went to a place far away from his brother Yisrael (Israel), 7 because they had too many possessions for them to remain together, and the land they were staying in wasn’t able to support both of them because of all their livestock. 8 So Esav (also known as Edom) settled his household in the Se’ir hills.

9 Now these are the following generations of Esav, the father of the Edomim in the Se’ir hills: 10 Two of Esav’s sons were Elifaz, who he had with his wife Adah, and Re’uel, who he had with his wife Basemat.

11 Elifaz’s sons were Teyman, Omar, Tsefo and Gaetam and Kenaz. 12 Elifaz and his slave-wife Timna had a son they named Amalek. (Elifaz’s sons were all grandsons of Esav and his wife Adah.) 13 Re’uel’s sons were Nahat, Zerah, Shamah, and Mizah. (They were the grandsons of Esav and his wife Basemat.) 14 Esav and his wife Oholivamah had Ye’ush, Yaelam, and Korah. (Oholivamah was the daughter of Anah and the granddaughter of Tsivoen.)

15 These were Esav’s sons who became leaders: the sons of Elifaz (Esav’s eldest son) which were Chief Teyman, Chief Omar, Chief Tsefo, Chief Kenaz, 16 Chief Korah, Chief Gaetam, Chief Amalek. Those were the chiefs of Elifaz in the Edom region. (They were the grandsons of Esav and his wife Adah.)

17 These were the sons of Esav’s son Re’uel: Chief Nahat, Chief Zerah, Chief Shamah, Chief Mizah. Those were the chiefs of Re’uel in the Edom region. (They were the grandsons of Esav and his wife Basemat.)

18 These were the sons of Esav’s wife Oholivamah: Chief Ye’ush, Chief Yaelam, Chief Korah. (They were the chiefs from Esav’s wife Oholivamah—Anah’s daughter.) 19 Those were the sons of Esav (also known as Edom), and those were their chiefs.
