10 These are the generations of Noah’s sons, Yefet (Japheth), Shem, and Ham, and their descendants born to them after the flood:

2 Yefet’s (Japheth) sons were Gomer, Magog, Maday, Yavan, Tuval, Meshek, and Tiras. 3 Gomer’s sons were Ashkenaz, Rifat, and Togarmah. 4 Yavan’s sons were Elishah and Tarshish, and Kitim[fn] and Dodanim. 5 From all those descendants, people spread out into areas near the coast, each group with their own language, and with all the clans making up their nations.

6 Ham’s sons were Kush, Mitsrayim, Put, and Kena’an (Canaan). 7 Kush’s sons were Seva, Havilah, Savtah, Raemah, and Savteka. Then Raemah’s sons were Sheva and Dedan. 8 Kush was also the father of Nimrod who became a mighty warrior on the earth. 9 Nimrod also became a terrific hunter noticed by Yahweh, so people said, “Like Nimrod, a terrific hunter noticed by Yahweh.” 10 His kingdom began in the cities of Bavel, Erek, Akad, and Keleneh, all in the Shin’ar region. 11 From that area he extended to Ashur (Assyria)[fn] where he built the cities of Nineveh, Rehovot-Ir, Kelah, 12 and Resen, between Nineveh and the large city of Kelah.

13 Mitsrayim fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehavim, Naftuhim, 14 Patrusi, and Kasluhim (who the Pelishtim came from), and Kaftorim.

15 Kena’an (Canaan) fathered Tsidon (Sidon) his firstborn, then Het,[fn] 16 Yevusi, Amori, Girgashi. 17 Hivi, Arki, Sini, 18 Arvadi, Tsemari, and Hamati. Later on, the Kena’an clans spread in all directions 19 and their border went from Tsidon toward Gerar as far as Azah (Gaza), and then toward Sedom, Amorah (Gomorrah), Admah, and Tsevoim, as far as Lesha. 20 Those are Ham’s descendants according to their clans, languages, regions, and nations.

21 Shem (the younger brother of Yefet (Japheth)) also had some sons and became the ancestor of all the descendants of Ever. 22 Shem’s sons were Eylam, Ashur, Arpakshad, Lud, and Aram. 23 Aram’s sons were Uts (Uz), Hul, Geter, and Mash. 24 Arpakshad fathered Shelah, then Shelah fathered Ever. 25 Ever’s two sons were Peleg and Yaketan. (Peleg’s name means ‘division’, because it was during his lifetime that the earth was divided.[fn]) 26 Yaketan fathered Almodad, Shelef, Hatsarmavet, Yerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Oval, Avimael, Sheva, 29 Ofir, Havilah, and Yovav. (All of those were the sons of Yaketan.) 30 They lived in the area from Meysha then to Sefar in the eastern hills. 31 Those are Shem’s descendants according to their clans, languages, regions, and nations.

32 All of those are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their generations and nations, and from them the nations spread out across the earth after the flood.
