26 And it will happen, when you have come into the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you as an inheritance and you possess it and live in it, 2 then you shall take from the first of all the harvest of the land that you have brought in from the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you. And you shall put it in a basket and go to the place that Yahweh your God will choose for his name to dwell there. 3 And you shall go to the priest who will be in those days and say to him, ‘I declare today to Yahweh your God that I have come to the land that Yahweh swore to our fathers to give to us.’ 4 And the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it before the face of the altar of Yahweh your God. 5 And you shall respond and say before the face of Yahweh your God,
‘My father was a wandering Aramean. And he went down to Egypt and stayed there—his people were few—and there he became a great, mighty, and numerous nation. 6 And the Egyptians treated us badly and afflicted us. And they set it—hard work—upon us. 7 And we cried out to Yahweh, the God of our fathers, and Yahweh heard our voice and saw our affliction and our labor and our oppression. 8 And Yahweh brought us out from Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with great fearsomeness and with signs and with wonders; 9 and he has brought us to this place and has given to us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 And now, behold, I have brought the first of the harvest of the land that Yahweh has given to me.’
And you shall set it down before the face of Yahweh your God and bow down before the face of Yahweh your God; 11 and you shall rejoice in all the good that Yahweh your God has given to you and to your house—you and the Levite and the foreigner who is among you.
12 When you have finished tithing all the tithe of your harvest in the third year—the year of tithing—then you shall give it to the Levite, to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, and they may eat within your gates and be satisfied. 13 And you shall say before the face of Yahweh your God,
‘I have removed from my house the things set apart, and also have given it to the Levite, and to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandments that you have commanded me. I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten. 14 I have not eaten from it in my mourning, nor have I removed from it in sin, nor have I given from it to the dead. I have listened to the voice of Yahweh my God; I have done according to all that you have commanded me. 15 Look down from your holy habitation, from the heavens, and bless your people, Israel, and the land that you have given to us, as you had sworn to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’
16 This day Yahweh your God is commanding you to obey these statutes and ordinances; and you shall keep and do them with all your heart and with all your spirit. 17 You have declared today: Yahweh is your God, and you shall walk in his ways and keep his statutes and his commandments and his ordinances, and you shall listen to his voice. 18 Today Yahweh has declared that you are his, a people for a possession, as he had spoken to you, and to keep all his commandments, 19 and he will set you high above all the nations that he has made, for praise and for a name and for beauty. And you will be a sanctified people for Yahweh your God, just as he has spoken.”
