24 And he said to Moses, “Come up to Yahweh—you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy from the elders of Israel, and you shall bow down from a distance. 2 And Moses alone shall come near to Yahweh, and they shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”
3 And Moses went and recounted to the people all of the words of Yahweh and all of the ordinances. And all of the people answered with one voice and said, “We will do all the things that Yahweh has spoken.” 4 And Moses wrote all of the words of Yahweh. And he rose early in the morning and built an altar at the bottom of the mountain and twelve stone pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 He sent the young men of the sons of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of bulls to Yahweh. 6 And Moses took half of the blood and put it into basins and sprinkled half of the blood onto the altar. 7 And he took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud in the ears of the people. And they said, “We will do and hear all that Yahweh has spoken.”
8 And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it onto the people. And he said, “Behold! the blood of the covenant that Yahweh has cut with you according to all of these words.”
9 And Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy from the elders of Israel went up. 10 And they saw the God of Israel. And under his feet was like tile made of sapphire, and its substance was as the sky in purity. 11 And he did not send out his hand to the leaders of the sons of Israel. And they saw God, and they ate and drank.
12 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to me to the mountain and be there. And I will give you the tablets of stone and the law and the commandments that I have written to teach them.”
13 And Moses and his servant Joshua got up, and Moses went up to the mountain of God. 14 And he had said to the elders, “Wait for us in this place until we return to you. And behold! Aaron and Hur are with you; Whoever is a master of words may come near to them.”
15 And Moses went up to the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain. 16 And the glory of Yahweh settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses from within the cloud. 17 And the appearance of the glory of Yahweh was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the sons of Israel. 18 And Moses entered the middle of the cloud and went up to the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.
