AICNT 2TH Chapter 3

TH 3 ©

Finally, pray for us, brothers, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, just as it is with you, 2and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

But we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will do the things we command [and].[fn] 5May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the endurance of Christ.

We instruct you, brothers, in the name of {our}[fn] Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother who is living in disorder and not according to the tradition that they received from us.

For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not disorderly[fn] referring among you, 8nor did we eat bread as a gift from anyone, but in labor and hardship, working throughout night and day, so as not to burden any of you; 9not because we do not have the right, but in order to provide ourselves as a model for you to imitate us.

For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but are busybodies.

Now such persons we command and exhort {in the}[fn] Lord Jesus Christ to work in quietness and eat their own bread.

But you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.

And if anyone does not obey our word in this letter, note that person, [[and]][fn] do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

The greeting is in my own hand — Paul's, which is a sign in every letter; so I write.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. [[Amen]][fn]
