The vital building-stone and the believers

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Literal Version

2:4 The vital building-stone and the believers

4As you all approach the living building-stone (which was rejected by humans yet chosen and honoured by God), 5you are being built into a temple and joining a holy group of priests to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Yeshua the messiah, 6[ref]because it’s written in the scriptures:

Look, I’m placing a building-stone in Tsiyyon/Zion,

the vital cornerstone that’s chosen and honoured,

and anyone who believes in him certainly won’t be disgraced.’

7[ref]To all of you who believe, this cornerstone is valuable, but to those who don’t believe:

‘The building-stone which the builders rejected

ended up becoming the vital cornerstone.’

8and he will be:[ref]

‘A stone that people stumble over

and a rock that upsets people.’

They stumble because they won’t believe in the message—this is what was appointed for them.

9[ref]But all of you are a chosen tribe, a group of royal priests, a holy nation, a people that God has procured, so that you can tell others about the virtues of the one who called you all out of darkness and into his marvellous light. 10[ref]Previously you all weren’t a people group, but now you’re the people of God—previously you all hadn’t been shown mercy, but now you have been.

4To whom approaching a_ living _stone, on_one_hand having_been_rejected by humans, on_the_other_hand chosen by god, honoured, 5also yourselves as living stones you_all_are_being_built, a_ spiritual _house, into a_ holy _priesthood to_offer_up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to_god through Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) chosen_one/messiah.
6Because it_is_contained in in_scripture:
Behold, I_am_laying a_stone in Siōn/(Tsiyyōn), a_cornerstone chosen honoured, and the one believing in him, by_no_means may_ not _be_disgraced.
7Therefore is the value to_you_all, the ones believing, but to_disbelieving ones The_stone which the ones building rejected, this was_become to the_head of_the_corner, 8and:
A_stone of_stumbling, and a_rock of_offense, who are_stumbling disbelieving in_the message, to which also they_were_appointed.
9But you_all are a_ chosen _race:
a_royal priesthood, a_ holy _nation, a_people for ^his_procuring, so_that the virtues you_all_may_proclaim_out, of_the one having_called you_all out_of darkness, to the marvellous light of_him,
10who once were not a_people, but now are the_people of_god, the ones not having_been_shown_mercy, and now having_been_shown_mercy.
