Yerushalem’s coming rescue

Isa 62:1–12

62For the sake of Tsiyyon (Zion), I won’t be silent.

≈ and for Yerushalem’s sake, I won’t be quiet,

until its righteousness proceeds as brightness

and its salvation like a burning torch.

2Then the other nations will see your righteousness,

≈ and all kings will see your glory.

and you’ll be called by a new name that Yahweh himself will give.

3You’ll be a beautiful crown in Yahweh’s hand,

and a royal turban in your god’s palm.

4They won’t claim any longer that you’ve been abandoned,

≈ and they won’t say again that your land has been deserted,

because you’ll be called ‘the place that Yahweh likes’.

Also, your land will be called ‘married’

because your land will be married to him.

5Just like a young man marries a young woman,

≈ your sons will marry you,

and as the groom is full of happiness about his bride,

≈ your god will be full of happiness about you.

6I’ve put watchmen on your walls, Yerushalem.

They’ll never be silentnight or day.

≈ You all who are reminding Yahweh, don’t ever stop to rest—

7don’t let him rest until he reestablishes Yerushalem,

≈ and until he makes it something to be praised by the world.

8Yahweh has using the strength from his power,

≈ and raised his right hand to make a promise:

I’ll won’t give your grain to your enemies again for their food,

≈ and foreigners’ children won’t be drinking the new wine that you worked so hard to make,

9because those who harvested the grain will eat it,

≈ and those who collected the grapes will drink in my sacred courtyards.

10Go through, head out the city gates. Clear the way for the people.

≈ Build up, build up the highway. Clear away the stones to raise up a banner for the nations.

11Listen, Yahweh has proclaimed to the ends of the earth:

Tell Tsiyyon’s daughter to look because her rescue is about to happen.[ref]

Look, he’s brought his reward with him,

≈ and his wages go ahead of him.

12The ones that Yahweh has paid to have freed

will be called ‘the sacred people’ by others.

Also, you’ll be called ‘the desirable city’—

the one which hasn’t been abandoned.
