OET (OET-LV)And it_became, in Ikonion with the same them to_come_in into the synagogue of_the Youdaiōns, and to_speak thus so_that a_great multitude of_ both _Youdaiōns and Hellaʸns to_believe.

OET (OET-RV) A similar thing happened in Iconium. Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish meeting hall and spoke in such as way that a lot of both Jews and Greeks believed.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-newevent

ἐγένετο δὲ

˱it˲_became and

Luke is using this phrase to introduce a new event in the story. Use a word, phrase, or other method in your language that is natural for introducing a new event.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

λαλῆσαι

/to/_speak

It may be helpful to say explicitly that they spoke about Jesus. Alternate translation: “spoke about Jesus”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

14:1 The missionaries moved on to the next town, Iconium (now called Konya), located east of Pisidian Antioch on a high plateau in south central Asia Minor. Iconium enjoyed a favorable location on several key trade routes.
• In their usual fashion, Paul and Barnabas began their ministry in the area by speaking powerfully in the Jewish synagogue, which led to a great response from both Jews and Greeks.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and English gloss (7th line) are all thanks to the SR-GNT.
