Psalmes 84

P S A L. LXXXIII.

1 A complaint to God of the enemies conspiracies. 9 A prayer against them that oppresse the Church.

¶ A song or Psalme of Asaph.

LXXXIV¶ Keepe not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. 2For loe, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee, haue lift vp the head. 3They haue taken craftie counsell against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. 4They haue said, Come, and let vs cut them off from being a nation: that the name of Israel may bee no more in remembrance. 5[fn]For they haue consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee. 6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites: of Moab, and the Hagarens. 7Gebal and Ammon, and Amalek: the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre. 8[fn]Assur also is ioyned with them: they haue holpen the children of Lot. Selah. 9[ref][ref]Doe vnto them as vnto the Midianites: as to Sisera, as to Iabin, at the brooke of Kison: 10Which perished at En-dor: they became as dung for the earth. 11[ref]Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna: 12Who sayd, Let vs take to our selues, the houses of God in possession. 13O my God, make them like a wheele: as the stubble before the wind. 14As the fire burneth a wood: and as the flame setteth the mountaines on fire: 15So persecute them with thy tempest: and make them afraid with thy storme. 16Fill their faces with shame: that they may seeke thy name, O LORD. 17Let them be confounded and troubled for euer: yea let them be put to shame, and perish: 18That men may knowe, that thou, whose name alone is IEHOVAH: art the most High ouer all the earth.

P S A L. LXXXIV.

1 The Prophet longing for the communion of the Sanctuarie, 4 sheweth how blessed they are that dwell therein. 8 Hee prayeth to be restored vnto it.

¶ To the chiefe musician vpon Gittith, a Psalme for the sonnes of Korah.

LXXXIV¶ How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hostes! 2My soule longeth, yea euen fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh cryeth out for the liuing God. 3Yea the sparrowe hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for her selfe, where she may lay her young, euen thine altars, O LORD of hostes, my king and my God. 4Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they wilbe still praysing thee. Selah. 5Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee: in whose heart are the wayes of them: 6[fn][fn]Who passing through the valley of Baca, make it a well: the raine also filleth the pooles. 7[fn]They goe from strength to strength: euery one of them in Zion appeareth before God. 8O LORD God of hostes, heare my prayer: giue eare, O God of Iacob. Selah. 9Behold, O God our shield: and looke vpon the face of thine anointed. 10[fn]For a day in thy courts, is better then a thousand: I had rather be a doore keeper in the house of my God, then to dwell in the tents of wickednesse. 11[ref]For the LORD God is a sunne and shield: the LORD will giue grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walke vprightly. 12O LORD of hostes: blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
