16 There were certain tribal leaders over each of Yisrael’s tribes:

• Zikri’s son Eliezer was the leader of the tribe of Reuven.
• Maakah’s son Shefatyah was the leader of the tribe of Shimeon.
• 17 Kemuel’s son Hashavyah was the leader of the Levites.
• Tsadok was the leader of Aharon’s descendants.
• 18 David’s older brother Elihu was the leader of the tribe of Yehudah.
• Mikael’s son Omri was the leader of the tribe of Yissakar.
• 19 Ovadyah’s son Yishmayah was the leader of the tribe of Zevulun.
• Azriel’s son Yerimot was the leader of the tribe of Naftali.
• 20 Azazyah’s son Hoshea was the leader of the tribe of Efrayim.
• Pedayah’s son Yoel was the leader of the half-tribe of Menashsheh.
• 21 Zekaryah’s son Yiddo was the leader of the half-tribe of Menashsheh in Gilead.
• Avner’s son Yaasiel was the leader of the tribe of Benyamin.
• 22 Yeroham’s son Azarel was the leader of the tribe of Dan.

Those were the commanders of Yisrael’s tribes.

23 David hadn’t included men who were less than twenty years old when he’d ordered a census, because Yahweh had promised that he would multiply the Israelis like stars in the sky.[ref] 24 Yoav (Tseruyah’s son) began the count, but never finished it, because Yahweh’s anger had struck Yisrael, so the census result wasn’t recorded in the record of King David’s reign.[ref]
